| Gaskets should be replaced periodically, as they will harden over time and stop working -- which will cause seal loss, and your cooker won't work. It's easiest to order a spare gasket available below with your cooker, so you'll have a backup. (They can also be nicked or damaged by a stove burner, etc.) Tip: When not in use, gaskets can be removed from cooker lid to maintain proper shape for longest life. |

3.5, 5 & 7 Liter Turn-Top Pressure Cookers by Kuhn Rikon
New Kuhn Rikon line: These new Kuhn Rikon "Turn Top" pressure cookers are identical in size and construction to the cookers listed immediately above, except that they have a different pressure relief valve. With most Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers, pressure can be released by pressing and holding the stem down at the peak of the lid. The valve at the top of these "Turn Top" models can be twisted, then let go of, to release pressure until the valve is turned back to the normal closed position. Click for detailed images.

Out of all the pressure cookers I tested, the one I liked the best — it really made cooking a breeze — was a Kuhn Rikon, made in Switzerland. It comes in many shapes and sizes. I have the one that resembles a frying pan. The bottom of these pans, even though they are stainless steel, is virtually nonstick and the opening and closing mechanisms work as if they had been freshly oiled. Replacement Gaskets for Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cookers
You can order gaskets by model number for current models. (For older models: The gasket sizes refer to the diameter across the inside edge of the gasket itself, not the diameter of the cooker. To convert from inches to centimeters, multiply inches x 2.54.)

Flame Tamer/Energy Saver Disk
Our flame tamer will protect your smaller pressure cooker and your gasket on gas stoves. Especially recommended for the shallow Pressure Frypans, but equally effective for all other pressure cookers, stainless and copper cookware.
