Incredible fuel efficiency & speed: For anyone who needs to prepare food off-grid, one of the tools we recommend most highly is a quality pressure cooker. Not a big heavy pressure canner, but a cooker designed for meal-size cooking. There's a new generation of pressure cookers and they provide two huge advantages over conventional cooking. First is fuel efficiency: Energy is already high priced and just keeps getting more expensive and scarce. Whatever heat source you use, from electricity to stove fuel to wood, you can cook with 70% LESS of it, with a pressure cooker. You can also cook in 70% less time. The principal reason pressure cookers aren't in every home is that, years ago, they were hazardous and tricky to use.
