Built-In mixers sold in the U.S. come with dough hooks designed for sale in Europe (pictured at right in photo -- the one with the black plastic part.) Most European Bosch owners don't make bread with their mixers... they buy it from the local baker as a matter of tradition. Every American baker we've spoken to who has used the standard European hook has found it to be unsatisfactory for making more than two loaves at a time (in fact some more pointed words have been used.) If you want to make more than two loaves of bread at a time in your Bosch Built-In Mixer, we recommend ordering the accessory heavy duty all-stainless dough hook pictured at far left (the one w/o the black plastic part.) It does an outstanding job of kneading. It has an entirely different shape and is several times more massive than the European hook. The European hook does do a very nice job for 1-2 loaves, and also works great for cookie dough.

Flaker Mill for Built-In Mixer: This quality flaker mill is made in Germany by the Messerschmidt company and, with the adapter shown below, will fit onto the angled accessory adapter shown above.

The flaker mill turns soft grains like oats into flakes for recipes and fresh cereals. Our customer -- and fellow Nebraskan -- Randy Watterman sent us these comments about his flaker: "Had our first batch this morning... it was wonderful! Wire Whips (DB3) come standard with the Bosch Built-In Mixer. (Upper pair at left.)
Batter Whisks (DB2) have different spacing for thicker (but still pourable) batters. (Lower pair at left.)

Tip: Bosch recommends using the wire whips and batter whisks for pourable batters. The batter whisks (DB2's) are a bit stronger than the wire whips for "heavier pourable" batters, and until recently we recommended the DB2's for careful use with light to medium cookie batters not containing any stiff material (like unsoftened butter or margarine.) The new Bosch cookie paddles (see them listed just above) have now replaced the DB2 as a MUCH better choice for all cookie batters. In our view, there is no good reason to purchase DB2's now that the MUZ6CP1 cookie paddles are available. For maximum whipping action in lighter foods, the original DB3 wire whip is certainly the best tool. Wire whips and batter whisks are not warranted because the Bosch is easily powerful enough to bend them if they're used in thick batters.
